Starting Salary: $50,270 to $75,000 Commensurate with Experience

The Research Analyst will perform complex research in support of
management initiatives. The Research Analyst is responsible for
learning TG's business drivers and then developing reports to inform
operational decisions. These reports may monitor operational
performance, project trends or assess portfolio characteristics. The
Research Analyst will maintain existing reports, but will also
respond to ad hoc requests.. Using SAS, the Research Analyst queries
corporate and public databases to generate reports and databases for
TG management and for external customers, e.g. colleges, lenders,
state and federal agencies, legislative staff and the media. The
Research Analyst will often participate in small, informal research
teams to accomplish objectives. The Research Analyst must be able to
lead projects, exercising sound project management skills,
demonstrating attention to detail, and working with a fair measure
of independence.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited four-year college
or university with major work in business administration, public
administration, government, economics, computer science,
mathematics, statistical analysis, social sciences, or research
methodology is required. Four years of student loan experience may
substitute for the bachelor's degree. Graduate training in these
same areas preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Three years of SAS programming required.
Strong research and writing skills; intermediate programming skills
in statistical software; ability to perform complex data management
tasks; and intermediate level of MS Excel required. Knowledge of
statistical concepts and research methodology and an ability to
operationalize customer requests into programming logic required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced programming skills in SAS
software; beginner to intermediate knowledge of SQL; experience
building html interfaces to SAS stored processes; understanding of
higher education public policy; and an understanding of the
financial industry preferred.. Prefer experience working in or with
institutions of higher education and/or the financial industry. Four
years of experience writing research reports, although two years may
be substituted by two years of graduate school experience. Project
management training or experience.
