We are looking for a Principal Biostatistician to head up the team
in the US. The Principal Biostatistician will provide high quality
statistical support to clients, manage assigned projects, line
manage and support assigned personnel, assign projects to
appropriate personnel and maintain the resource model. Additional
responsibilities will include the following:
- Communicate effectively (orally and written) with clients.
- Advise clients on the design and analysis of clinical trials.
- Produce sample-size estimates, randomization schedules and
statistical sections from protocols.
- Produce Reporting Analysis Plans (RAPs) for studies.
- Analyze studies and produce statistical reports according to
the RAPs or the clients’ specified requirements.
- Check, approve, and comment on study protocols, publications and
study reports for clients.
- Perform quality control checks on statistical documents.
- Perform quality assurance checks on statistical documents before
they are sent to the client.
- Provide input into quotes for statistical work.
- Provide a clear breakdown of bookable time for invoicing.
- Responsible for project management.
- Report the progress of a study against its milestones, to the
appropriate project manager.
A qualified candidate will have a minimum of a BSc in Statistics or
equivalent; preferably a MSc in Statistics or equivalent. They will
also:
- Have relevant past experience within the pharmaceutical
industry or medical sector;
- Understand the principles and procedures of statistics.
- Have at least 3 years experience as a statistician within the
pharmaceutical industry (or have appropriate placement as part of
undergraduate studies).
- Have a strong knowledge of statistical software packages
(particularly SAS);
- Have strong communication skills (oral and written);
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Exhibit strong personnel management skills (i.e.,
“people-skills”).
